help, if anyone can [01 Mar 2006|01:24pm]

Where can I find a girl who can sing classical Persian vocals, can play some traditional Persian instrument (or knows a few Persian instruments) at the same time, and likes Metal? I'm looking for such a girl for my band (as stated in the above link. If anyone at all knows of such a girl, please send her our way. I currently live in Los Angeles, but this summer, I'm moving back to Vanocouver, BC, Canada. Distance isn't a problem, with the help of digital recording. If anyone at all has anything to say, I'd appreciate any and all help I can get.

Contemporary Mystical Persian Music and Dance on May 7, 2004 [06 May 2004|09:05am]

Event: Following successful tours of the US & Europe in 2003, the leading Persian percussion ensemble, ZARBANG has once again teamed up with acclaimed dancer/choreographer, Banafsheh Sayyad for an evening of their new work. Elements of Persian Sufi dance & music are fused with Flamenco and improvisational elements to present a way to communicate ancient sacred notions in a contemporary language. Outer Circles originate from personal trance states that are then given structure and order, hence finding a pattern within chaos. Slow and meditative, yet ecstatic and exuberant, it features dance and live music pieces that delve into the mysteries of floating on the outer circles, far from the source, immersed in materiality, yet seeking, longing and pushing the limits of temporal being.

Do any of you know of any group of people in the DC area who might be interested in performing at Kabob Bazaar in Arlington, VA during Eid Norouz? I need a group that would play traditional music... like Shahram Nazari type, with the setars and tombaks and stuff like that and would be willing to play for a couple of hours during the lunch buffet. Of course, they will be paid and everything... but if any of you or anyone you know are interested in this and are talented, then please let me know. Thanks!
